Here’s the thing: I can’t afford to go on a real vacation. I have one all planned out . . . I know exactly where I’d go and what I’d do. What I’d wear, even. And, of course, where I’d eat. The only thing I lack is the funds. (How tiresome.)
So I’ve decided to go anyway. Now before you throw the Dave Ramsey budget penalty flag, let me explain. I’m going to go digitally. I’m going to . . . pretend. (It’s what I do best.) I’ve packed my virtual wardrobe (can’t afford that either, darn it), reserved my virtual flight, and chosen my virtual hotel. Each day, I’ll provide a travelogue about my trip so you can come along for the ride. Think of it as a virtual postcard.
Not only is it free, there will be no issues with airport security, lost luggage, or scary taxi drivers. I don’t have to find anyone to water the plants or feed the cats. I won’t miss any rehearsals or use any time off. It’s kind of . . . perfect.
Join me, won’t you? I leave Friday, September 18. AA Flight 1600, a number with a certain significance for this destination. Scheduled departure time: 8:45 a.m. I’ll meet you at the virtual airport Starbucks!
