It’s almost time to pack up my travel buddies and head down to the Hill Country for a weekend of good food and good times.
The occasion? It’s time for my annual “we won’t ask you this again” meeting with my timeshare. They cannot fathom how I can be happy with my current, paid-for, bi-annual week. So every year they invite me down for another free weekend to try and persuade me to spend more money. Every year I say no. Every year they tell me it’s their final offer. Every year I smile and say “OK, I understand” knowing full well they’ll call again in 12 months or so. (Not that I would change my answer even if they didn’t. I’m quite content as I am.)
Anyway, I’m looking forward to more glassblowing, wine tasting, delicious dining fun. In case you’re in the Hico, Texas area—or want to order some truly spectacular chocolate via the Internet—here’s one of our favorite stops along the way:
It’s conveniently located next to the Koffee Kup Restaurant just off Hwy 281. (You’ll want to pop into the Koffee Kup for pie. Trust me on this.) I had driven past the chocolate shop for years before I finally stopped and realized what I’d been missing. Oh. My. They have lovely…stuff….as well as actual chocolates, so there’s plenty to see and even more to taste.
You must try these: Wild Woman Chocolates. They’re dark as midnight, smooth as a set of satin sheets, and sweet as sin. Put one of these in your mouth and your tastebuds will shiver in ecstasy. Just one of these chocolates will make the primmest Baptist girl let her hair down, slide on a pair of red stilettos, and go out on the prowl. Or not . . . but they are really, really good. I’m just sayin’.
They actually teach chocolate making; I’m drooling just thinking about it. And for those of you who can’t get to Hico, they offer mail order. Find out more here: http://www.wisemanhousechocolates.com/ But be advised: their web site may cause uncontrollable cravings. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
I have to go work out now so I can enjoy some of this goodness on my upcoming trip. I’ve lost weight recently and don’t want to put it all back on at one sitting. But I thought you all should know about Wiseman House Chocolates—because some things are too good not to share.
