So before I was rudely interrupted by a homicidal 2×4, a week of Brahms, and a trip to Minnesota, I was discussing our fave restaurants in the vicinity of the old WoFfice. Which, at the time, looked like this:
Elke’s is, as it says, both a market…
and a cafe:
Sadly, on our final lunch visit Chef Trevor was nowhere to be seen. This was a shame, as he adds considerably to the charm of the place, but it did keep the girls from jockeying for seats with a view of the kitchen. The food was still fabulous:
And a good time was had by all.
Elke’s Market Café
105 N. Greenville Ave., Suite 11
Allen, TX 75002
We ran out of time (and money) before we could get everywhere we wanted to go, but here are other places in the old hood I would have liked to visit one last time:
Into My Garden Tea Room located inside an antique mall in old downtown Plano, is a girly delight. Delicious food (their she crab soup is particularly toothsome) and charming atmosphere. http://www.intomygarden.com/
Italian Villa just across the parking lot from Elke’s. We used to eat here almost weekly and almost invariably ordered the daily special. It was always some cheesey tomatoey pasta goodness and came with these light, fluffy garlic rolls…
Brio Tuscan Grill in the lovely Watters Creek shopping center. While I’ll make it back here for happy hour ($2.95 appetizers, thank you very much), it’s too far a trek for lunch on their rather fabulous patio.
I daresay there are other places, but never mind. I’ve already found a terrific new lunch spot by the new WoFfice. Speaking of which, I’ll take you on a little tour tomorrow. Until then, bon appetit!
