I stopped at the grocery store on the way home to pick up a few missing ingredients for Honey Oatmeal Bread (which I’m making tonight for my scrapbook group tomorrow) and Pumpkin Layer Cake (which I’m making Sunday night for the WoFfice potluck Tuesday–rehearsal Monday night means I have to plan ahead). I also heaved a ginormous turkey into my cart, but that’s another story.
So as I was wandering through the aisles I happened upon a nice man with some sort of spread on crackers. “What’s this?” I asked.
“It’s divine!” said a nearby shopper with her mouth full.
So of course I tried it and it was darn good. The cracker man told us he’d made it himself, out of three (count ’em, 3) ingredients.
1. Shredded Swiss cheese
2. Chopped red onion
That’s it. Mostly cheese, a little onion, and enough mayo to hold it all together. Spread it on a cracker and be happy. Have it with a splash of the 14 Hands Cabernet cracker guy also had to offer and it’s even better. I may make this for Thanksgiving pre-feast noshing, but it’d be great in front of the TV anytime. Like tonight!
