As mentioned before in these pages, there’s a group of us Dallas Symphony Choristers who like to do themed dinners for each concert series we perform. Oftentimes we cook, but this is Christmas, with 4 times the average number of concerts, so this time of year we dine out.
Let me hasten to say this is a good thing. Gary Fry is a fabulous arranger and his music, while sometimes difficult to perform, is very, very lovely. (He does appear to suffer from a slight fa-la-la fetish, but that can probably be overcome with counseling.)
But seeing that three-letter-word so often, our little band of foodies decided there was only one good way to celebrate this concert series.
So between a matinee and evening performance, we headed up to Bubba’s for a little fried food extravaganza. Cream gravy most definitely NOT optional.
It was delicious, filling, and gave us the strength to go back for another round of–you guessed it–fa la la’s. Thanks for the inspiration, Gary!
