In case you were wondering, this is what I was doing in Billings, once I finally arrived:
More or less, anyway. While the Over the Top event was going on, I was running around with TV crews, reporters, and photographers from the local paper who all came to see. (I was media rep at the event.)
We (“we” being “Women of Faith”) were big news in Billings. This was in no small part due to the fact that shortly after our last event there a tornado virtually flattened the arena–and we were the first event to take place in the newly reopened arena, beating out Elton John by a couple of hours. So I met many lovely people from the TV, radio, and newspaper outlets.
It was a blast. Totally worth the trouble of getting there.
I hear I even made it on the 10:00 news…though thanks to my adventure the day before I couldn’t stay up to see it.
There are a number of Women of Faith events still to go this year–27 at this writing–and I highly recommend them. Not just because I work there, either. If you’ve never been, they’re a fun, inspirational weekend. They’re in arenas all over the country, so odds are you can get there in less than the twenty-hours I endured. You’ll find the schedule here: http://www.womenoffaith.com/events/2011-events/
I’d love to see you there!
I guess you could consider this an ad…but not a sponsored one, other than indirectly, since while I do actually work for Women of Faith they didn’t ask me to write about the event. It’s just too awesome not to share.
